Someone in Google+ today asked me if it was possible to see a shot of Stinky looking straight at the camera. So this morning I went outside and I did as instructed. Problem is that Stinky is not just a very thoughtful cat but also very very lazy....This was the most attention I could get out of him.....

Hi everyone :)
As some of you may recall we just went to UK where I finally had my PhD viva (everything went well and thanks to everyone for the support) and then to celebrate we headed to Disneyland Paris. Everything was going well until the second to the last night when Luna (my youngest daughter) fell down from the bed and broke her collarbone badly.......As you can guess she wasn't a happy bunny, especially 'cause she missed her last day in Disney, poor girl. Anyway, she is now slowly recovering even though the bone's fragments don't seem to heal as well as we had hoped, at least she got to miss the first 10 days of school that should be enough to make up for the day she missed in Disney :)
Also in the last few days I have been quite busy setting up my Google+ account. I have to recognise that G+ has some good potential for photography, in just 4 days I got 1800 followers!!

Sadness

Today I am sad because this week-end will basically be my last summer week-end (even though temperatures here in Sicily are supposed to stay well above 30C for a few weeks more...).
September in fact is going to be super busy with my final PhD viva the 9th and a few project and manuscripts to finish before the end of the month. Summer is already a blurred hazy memory for me......
At least I hope that you, my friends, will still have lots of nice summer moments, taking photos and just enjoying yourselves.

This was taken with my new/old Hexanon AR 50mm f1.7, the first of an "unfortunately" long list of legacy lenses that I will have the pleasure to try out in my Sony NEX-3 in the coming months. Considering that this was taken wide open at f1.7, I am quite happy with the lens (sharpness and bokeh are good enough for me).

I particularly like this "portrait" of a singing white wagtail that I took during our recent trip to Finland. More than anything I like its almost melancholic mood.....at least this is the feeling that it gives to me :)
